Bystander Effect

When have you experienced an opportunity to act, but not done it (or maybe you did act)? If you have never experienced this sort of opportunity, try to envision a hypothetical situation where it might happen. In this situation why did you fail to act? Or, if it was a hypothetical situation, what might prevent you from acting?

Personally I have not experienced a situation like this, but I will try to make up a situation and describe what i would do. So lets say that someone I know is being bullied. They are constantly being told they arent good enough or that they aren't the same as everyone else. If i saw the bullying going on I would try to intervine by telling the person doing the bullying that what they are doing is wrong and i would ask them how they would feel if someone bullied them. I would also infor, a teacher or an adult about the situation and what has been going on. Something that might prevent me from acting would be if there are alot of people around cheering on the bully. In this situation it wouldn be hard to stand up infront of a group of people, but i would still do it becasue it's the right thing to do.

Interdependance Quote Reflection

This quote relates to the society we live in today more than ever. Today we live in a society where we trade with so many other countries in able to aquire things such as food, clothing, and various types of technology. Being citizens of the world is especially true becasue with things like Facebook and Twitter we are able to be connected to anyone in almost any country of the world. Although I agree with most of this quote, I also think that if we needed to we could survive fairly well all on our own without help from other countries. For example in the case of an apocalypse where all our services are shutdown we would need to rely on skills that people used thousands of years ago, and I think we are completely capable of doing that.
